Day
Treatment
In Minnesota
there are tens of thousands of school age children and youth
living with the
effects of severe emotional disturbances. This has a dramatic impact on
learning and creates significant challenges for families, schools, and
communities.
Family
Networks collaborates with schools to provide day treatment to children
and adolescents needing intensive mental health services. Day treatment
participants are children who have a severe emotional disturbance and are at
risk for out-of-home placement or hospitalization.
Family
Networks’ day treatment services provide comprehensive mental health services
for those children and their families. Day treatment programming occurs five
days per week, three hours per day. It includes weekly individual therapy, and
daily group therapy, life and social skills training, therapeutic recreation,
behavioral interventions, and milieu therapy. For maximum positive impact,
family therapy is provided when appropriate and staff assist families in
obtaining necessary community resources.
